What To Keep And What To Throw Away |

|
KEEP all e-mails, letters or other correspondence from your estranged spouse. Save these. These documents may contain information your attorney can use. Remember, anything you say can and will be used against you. If you are going to send an email or letter to your ex, be extremely cautious about what you put in writing and discuss with us whether or not you should even respond. If you respond to your former spouse, be sure to discuss your response with your attorney first. Your response should be a two line letter saying "This is to notify you that I am in receipt of your letter dated 000099 in which you state...." In addition, always send a copy of any correspondence received from or sent to your former spouse to us for review and to add to your file.
KEEP telephone answering machine messages that contain threats. (You'll never see the children again, you'll never get a dime, I'll quit work). This is evidence that can be used against your spouse. Forward these messages to your attorney immediately. |
